Q&A
STEP 1: PREPARATION
For salon-quality results and to make your manicure last, it is essential to thoroughly prepare your nails and cuticles. This step requires:
- Pushing back the cuticles using a cuticle pusher
- Cutting away dead skin (the “eponychium”) using nippers designed for this
purpose - Shaping the nails to give them the desired form (almond, squared, stiletto,
etc.) - Delicately polishing the nail surface to ensure proper base coat adherence
- Cleaning the nail surface to remove fatty substances using a cosmetic
acetone
STEP 2: NAIL POLISH APPLICATION
To ensure an even, mess-free manicure, the secret is simple: take your time! The advantage of gel polish is that it can be redone to your liking before using a UV/LED lamp.
As each coat is applied to the nail, it is important to remove the excess product from the brush. Coats applied too thickly will result in the polish spilling onto the skin or even not hardening properly.
To prevent the polish from prematurely peeling off the nail surface, products can be applied at the end of the nail. Also, it is essential to avoid the cuticles. In the event of overflow, don’t panic! It’s easy to remove the excess using a wood stick.
STEP 3: MAINTENANCE AND REMOVAL
Fortunately, maintaining a gel polish is fairly simple. By avoiding very hot water and using a cuticle oil daily, staying power will be optimized. A gel manicure will last between 10 days and 3 weeks.
After a few days, the manicure may no longer be as lustrous. A thin protective top coat will renew the shine. Our suggestion? Seche Vive Gel Effect Top Coat.
The removal method merits its own article! In short, remember to NEVER peel off the polish. Otherwise, you risk damaging the natural nail. Simply melt the manicure using cosmetic acetone for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove it using a cuticle pusher.
Now, go ahead and create an impeccable manicure!
