INFOBAE
As we all know, there are different types of face shapes, and it's essential to determine what type of haircut and hairstyle will be suitable for each one to bring out and enhance the best in us. Keep in mind that beyond trendy cuts, it's always crucial to prioritize what suits you best. If you consult an expert, they'll explain everything perfectly. Hair colors also influence, as I'll show you.
Oval Face
Considered the perfect face shape because it's balanced and maintains harmony in its proportions. For this reason, any haircut, color, or hairstyle can be created, and it will always look excellent.
Round Face
The shape that almost all women think they have, but that's not always the case. The round face is characterized by rounded cheekbones and chin. In terms of measurements, it's as wide as it is long. The cuts that flatter this shape are long ones reaching the clavicle (clavicut) or below the shoulders (long bob or lob). If they have layers or feathering on the sides, even better, as they'll help soften the features. When styling, straight hair is preferable, or just a bit of movement at the ends. Never add volume to the sides because it will enlarge the face; instead, add volume to the top of the head. If you opt for a parting or fringe, make it a side parting or side-swept fringe. When coloring or adding highlights, remember the theory that dark colors slim or conceal, while light colors enlarge. Therefore, it's advisable to have a darker color on the sides, playing with lighter colors on the top and the rest of the head.
Square Face
Here, the facial lines are very pronounced, for example, the forehead and jawline have straight contours and are angular and wide. It's a face with a lot of strength and personality, and if you want to accentuate this, I recommend a square or bob cut and hairstyle. For those who want to soften the features, it's ideal to cut and style with many layers on the sides as well as volume at the top. The shaggy cut or wolf cut are perfect for this. Regarding hair colors, apply the same principles as for the round face, with darker colors on the sides and lighter ones on the top and the rest.
Long Face
This face type is long, slim, and its contours are gently rounded. When cutting, we should avoid long cuts as they'll make the face appear even longer. Medium lengths like lobs or clavicuts are excellent for shortening a long face. If you're going for a parting, it should be in the middle to round off the face. And the fringe should be forward and not too short. Hairstyles should have volume on the sides but not on top. When coloring, we should put lighter colors or highlights on the sides to create an optical illusion of greater size (to enlarge or round off) and keep it darker at the top.
Triangular Face
This face shape has a wider jawline compared to the forehead. In this case, the cut and hairstyle need a lot of volume at the temples and the parietal area to harmonize the features and nothing on the jawline. You can have a fringe to conceal your small forehead. In terms of color, we can play with lighter colors on the temples to enlarge them and darker colors at the level of the jawline to diminish it.
Inverted Triangle Face
Here, the face has a pointed chin and a very broad and prominent forehead. The ideal cut is a chin-length mane with lots of volume at the ends to conceal the narrowed chin. To hide the forehead, you can use a heavy fringe at eyebrow level. The color should be lighter at the ends to add volume.
Diamond or Rhomboid Face
This face, like the oval one, maintains proportions, volumes, and is very harmonious. It accepts any type of cut, hairstyle, and color, so it will depend a lot on each one's style and personality.
I hope that after these explanations, you now know what your face shape is and what suits you best. Until next time,
