How Often Should you use Face Masks?

Adding a facial mask to your beauty routine is an undeniable benefit. Taking the time to pamper yourself is important! And let it be said that this good habit is good for your skin and for your mood. So much so that some people would slather on a mask every day.

Is the saying “Too much is like not enough” applicable? Saturated with all the ingredients a mask contains, might the skin end up rebelling?

Conduct your own little investigation!

It all depends on the type of product used. A moisturizing mask can be applied daily and even used in place of your night cream. When you wake up, your skin is luminous and plumped up, just as if you actually had 8 hours of sleep!

However, things get a little complicated when skincare contains certain active ingredients. The key is to examine the list of ingredients and identify those that might cause your skin to react.

Check to see if the mask contains the followings:

  • Anti-aging: retinol, vitamin C, etc.
  • Scents: perfume, fragrance, synthetic essential oils, etc.
  • Anti-acne: salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxyde, retinoids, etc.
  • Exfoliants: glycolic acid, lactic acid, BHA, citric acid, etc.
  • Purifiers: clay, activated charcoal, etc.

Don’t be scared by the above list – on the contrary! Used with moderation, they are excellent allies to achieve a perfect complexion. Depending on your skin’s sensitivity, we suggest limiting yourself to one or two masks per week.

What does my skin need?

For tight or dull skin, a moisturizer is ideal. If, on the other hand, your face shines like a glazed donut, go for a purifying mask. To wage war against pimples, try a spot treatment using tea tree essential oil – a natural and much gentler option! To combat fine lines, combine the benefits of weekly exfoliating and a lightening mask.

The important thing is to find a routine suited to your skin and stick to it!
